Donating to Haiti

am so sick of hearing about Haiti & everyone asking us to help donate to their cause! My Only question is how are
we supposed to help out another country when we can't even help ourselves? Instead taking all the millions of dollars
I'm sure they've raised to send to Haiti, put it towards creating new jobs & helping out the US citizens. Our economy
is hurting so bad right now that, I'm sure we could put all of that money to good use. I'm not cold-hearted, I feel
for them just like the next person, but it would be like me taking the food out of my childrens mouth to help someone
else out when my children our starving! Now seriously is that really fair?

Starting age for school children

I have an 18 year old son that is now a senior in high school. I feel September 1st is not the best date to have
chosen, for children to turn 5 by, before they can start kindergarten. In my case my son missed it by 2 weeks,
and so he had to wait another whole year to start school. Now he is an 18 year old senior & I fear every day that
he may not graduate. He is considered an adult now & I have lost most control / supervision in keeping him in school.
If they had chosen a date like June 1st (I believe calculates right) then these children wouldnt graduate until
their 18th birthday or close by. Then parents would still have supervision over them and could make a difference!
THIS COULD BE WHY THERE ARE SO MANY DROP-OUTS THESE DAYS!
